Dermaplaning was once an aesthetic trade secret in the modeling industry. Excellent on its own or combined with chemical peels and laser treatments. Dermaplaning is a manual non-invasive skin resurfacing procedure that uses a sterile surgical steel scalpel blade to remove the top layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair. Dermaplaning is an excellent treatment for superficial wrinkles, melasma and environmentally damaged skin. Dermaplaning can be used to remove unwanted vellus hair or “ peach fuzz” which is hard to treat even with laser hair removal. Hair does not grow back darker or thicker, but returns slowly and grows sparser with each treatment. Because Dermaplaning exposes the top layers of the epidermis topical skin treatments can be more effectively absorbed and can penetrate deeper following a Dermaplaning treatment.
